What Is A Classic TV Series?

Some of the “old tv shows” we list on the site are from the 1990’s. A lot of folks may think that might not qualify as “classic tv”. We decided that in order for it to appear on our site, it must be at least 25 years old.

How did we arrive at that number? Well, films have to be at least 25 years old to qualify for the National Film Registry. Cars generally have to be at least 25 years old to be considered classic. Musical acts have to be at least 25 years old to qualify for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So, we figured 25 years would be a good age to consider old tv shows “classic television”.

Not everyone will agree with this definition. We’re not even sure we completely agree with it. I mean, it’s easy to consider The Honeymooners, Make Room For Daddy, and The Carol Burnett Show as classic. Saved By The Bell, maybe not so much. In the end, it’s all rather subjective.

Regardless of what you consider a classic, we hope you find your favorites here and enjoy your stay!
